A Round up of 2012
by Katherine
Firstly Happy New Year from the team at Codify! 2012 was a
busy year for us including welcoming nine new customers and seven
new team members. This included the return of Lisa Thomson
who previously worked for us as Project Delivery Manager.
Lisa left in 2009 with a move into academia before re-joining us as
Operations Director.
Codify also continued its support for growing talent in Aberdeen
by taking on a new placement student from Aberdeen University and
two secondary school pupils for a week of work experience. In
addition we continued to sponsor the Computer Science class prize
for the Robert Gordon University (RGU) and sponsored a team from
RGU to travel to Ireland where they came 2nd in an international
programming competition. Encouraging talent is something we
are proud of at Codify and a number of our team have come to us as
graduates or worked for us on a university placement.
2012 also saw the launch of MAX Business Software, our sister
company, who are developing an off-the-shelf business management
system, complete with SAGE integration, targeted at small to medium
companies.
For Graeme, our Managing Director, October meant a trip to
Redmond the home of Microsoft to attend the annual Build
conference. Build is aimed at developers and allowed Graeme
to gain a wealth of knowledge and insight into the latest features
and direction of the technologies we use. The generous
Microsoft also gave all delegates a pre-launch version of the Nokia
Lumia 900 phone and a Microsoft Surface tablet! Needless to
say Graeme became the envy of the team on his return to the
Aberdeen.
December brought the Christmas party which didn't fail to
disappoint with inventive secret Santa gifts and a Christmas themed
challenge. We seem to be a very imaginative bunch at Codify
with very thoughtful gifts given. Highlights include Louise's
annual Robbie Williams calendar (thoroughly defaced with
moustaches) and Peter's homemade Lego kit of a Codify software
developer, complete with instructions and Codify logo.

This year's team challenge was to decorate a gingerbread man in
the style of a fellow employee and the winner was decided on
likeness and creativity.

The results were very impressive although some were slightly
scary!
We are looking forward to an equally exciting year ahead here at
Codify and would like to wish all our customers, suppliers and
friends a happy and prosperous 2013.
