Setting the standard for effective code reviews

by Mark

September was another great month for blog posts. Here are our favourites:

MONO ON WEBASSEMBLY STATUS UPDATE

https://forums.dotnetfoundation.org/t/mono-on-webassembly-status-update/2776

WebAssembly promises to give more choice in languages used to develop web applications. It is really exciting to see that the Mono team are making progress with a prototype of C#/.NET in the browser.

SECURE A WEB API IN ASP.NET CORE - THE BLINKING CARET

https://www.blinkingcaret.com/2017/09/06/secure-web-api-in-asp-net-core/

This is a great article that shows how to use JWT-based authentication in a web API project.

EFFECTIVE CODE REVIEWS - HACKER NOON

https://hackernoon.com/effective-code-reviews-e8ac466b9a2e

This article goes a little deeper than just code reviews - it’s a culture change and a change in process. We like how it also sets the ground rules (keeping things positive, laid back and not nit-picking).

ANGULAR VS REACT VS VUE

https://medium.com/unicorn-supplies/angular-vs-react-vs-vue-a-2017-comparison-c5c52d620176

The article compares Angular vs React vs Vue, but we feel that Vue could be replaced by Aurelia in most places. We don’t agree with everything, but it is quite comprehensive. We would probably emphasize the “clean code” argument a bit more.

EVERY JAVASCRIPT FRAMEWORK TUTORIAL WRITTEN MORE THAN 5 MINUTES AGO

Ending with a bit of light-hearted fun that highlights some of the challenges in modern web software development :)
