Well known Aberdeen business man, Allan Merritt, is joining Codify as a non executive
Director. Allan Merritt will sit on the board of the company. Codify is an Aberdeen
based software solution company providing a range of companies, including clients
in the oil and gas industry, with custom software solutions.
Mark Griffiths, Managing Director of Codify comments, "Since Codify was founded
in 2000 the company has gone from strength to strength, we now employ ten personnel
and provide custom software solutions to our clients. We are continually using and
implementing cutting edge developments to ensure that our clients remain at the
forefront of software development. There are plans in place to grow the company
considerably both in terms of personnel and client base. We are keen to draw on
Allan's business experience to further develop and define our strategy to ensure
that we remain a dynamic company and achieve our corporate goals."
Allan Merritt, well known throughout the north east as a prominent business man,
founded and was the managing director of IT specialist company Pragma until October
2005. Canadian born Mr Merritt moved to Aberdeen with his family aged one; an avid
supporter of Aberdeen football club he classes himself as a local lad.
Allan comments, "It is important to me to be able to contribute to local economic
growth. I hope that by joining the board of Codify as a non executive director and
providing the company with advice and direction based on my experience of setting
up and running a successful business I will be able to achieve this goal. Codify
already has a good reputation within the oil and gas community as a provider of
custom software solutions, over the coming years we plan to grow the company strategically,
ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of software solutions."
After finishing Aberdeen University with an MA degree in accountancy Allan began
his career in the oil and gas industry with a role as an entry level programmer
in Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas, Canada. He remained with Hudson's for seven years acquiring
valuable experience in IT. When Hudson's was taken over by Dome Petroleum Allan
remained with the company for a further two years. His next move was to a more senior
post as a senior programmer/systems analyst at Home Oil. This was followed by a
move back to the north east fuelled by his desire to start his own business. Prior
to setting up Pragma Allan worked as a consultant and then as part of the sales
force at Aberdeen based IT services firm, EDS. Seven years at EDS provided him with
the experience he needed to start his own business. Allan founded Pragma in 1994.
