Aberdeen-based IT company, Codify, has won nearly half a million pounds worth of work since the new financial year began in April.
Specialising in database software systems, predominantly for the energy industry, the firm has won various projects including work for Talisman, TAQA and Entier to deliver a variety of custom built line of business applications.
These consistent successes have meant that Codify has been able to bolster its existing team of 15 with five new members of staff, including four software developers and a pre-sales business analyst.
The business, with premises in Aberdeen’s city centre, has been operating since 2000 and has proudly maintained close links with local schools, linking up with Aberdeenshire Council for their work experience placement programme, and Robert Gordon University, where over half of Codify’s staff graduated from.
Katherine Rutherford, Codify’s Sales and Marketing Manager, commented:
“These contract wins are a testament to our ability to not only deliver software that is right for companies across the energy industry and beyond, but our effective support network which we continually offer our clients, even after the software is put in place.
“Our new starts begin at what is undoubtedly a very exciting time for not only Codify but the IT industry in general. We are seeing an increase in demand for custom software as the innovative companies in Aberdeen struggle to find off the shelf software that matches their exact needs.
“Another area of growth we are seeing is for PC touch screen applications for use in an office environment. Previous growth in this area has been hampered by the lack of practical and affordable hardware; however the technology is finally catching up with the demand as a result of an explosion in affordable device sizes. In addition, Windows 8 will be launched in October and with it brings a new interface better suited to touch screens, introducing touch to the mainstream PC.
“Although perhaps not always suitable for data input intensive applications, a touch screen is ideal for viewing and investigating information. They can offer a rich, intuitive user interface where you can delve into a specific area at the touch of the screen, encouraging investigation and discovery of information. This is a definitely an exciting area for growth and it will be interesting to see how it evolves in the future.”
